GUI & UI - Martin Sundstrøm Multimedia Design
For the website Lærermiddeltjek.dk we were developing a way for teachers to rate and classify teaching materials by their different educational parameters.

Originally, the ratings were designed to be displayed with both colors and numbers, but at the last minute before launch the client decided that numbers were a no-go, so the UI was left to display ratings using colors rating from a dark red to orange.

Unfortunately users had no indication of any scale based on those colors. So in 2011 we began a design and usability update that unfortunately never came to launch as the client's budget for the project was cancelled.

The challenge was to display an "amount" without actually setting a score. We were forbidden from using numbers as the score was not actually a rating of good or bad, rather a rating of how much a certain teaching method was used in the material. I came up with theses "dots" which ranged between full and empty.
